iMac Desktop
- Average user rating:
At first glance, Apple's latest iMac isn't all that radical—a processor bump, heartier graphics and better software compared with the previous model—but one glimpse of this slim, silver-and-black beauty, and it jumps right off the page. Apple's most elegantly designed all-in-one yet, this iMac iteration also has a solid configuration, excellent features, and good performance, making it a viable choice for anyone looking for a space-saving, eye-pleasing, highly capable desktop.
Apple offers the new iMacs in two screen sizes, 20- and 24-inch, with two set configurations available for each screen size. The configurations range in price from $1,199 to $2,299. (You can customize those models further on Apple's Web site.) Our test unit was the 20-inch (1,680x1,050-resolution) wide-screen model outfitted with a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo mobile processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, and a 320GB hard drive. Also in the package: Apple's SuperDrive slot-loading double-layer DVD burner, a 256MB ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro graphics chip, integrated Bluetooth, and built-in next-gen Draft N-compliant Wi-Fi networking (which also supports 802.11a/b/g).
