good for the money
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The ipod had a lot of scratches on the back but it was described in the description. It works well and I haven't had any problems. The product arrived well before time predicted. I am happy

Replaced My palm PDA
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Many useful features. Nice small package. I love the way it works seamlessly with I tunes. ITunes is much easier to use than the Creative software I was using. It took two programs to do all the stuff that ITunes does with the ITouch. Charges quickly enough. It fits into every shirt pocket that I have. It connects to available Wi Fi quickly and without any effort on my part. It sometimes downloads info faster than my PC. Music sound is very good quality. I don't use the Apple earphones because they don't fit my ears properly so I use Sony earphones. As for accessories, I bought a Belkin leather case and a Griffin Power Block for wall charging.I think you will enjoy the I Touch.

I could not live without my Ipod Touch!!!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I'm a former Palm Pilot owner -- I thought I loved my Palm Pilot, but when Ipod came out with the Touch I finally broke down and bought one when the 2G 8GB version came out -- I have not regretted it one bit! Amazon had a great deal where if you sign up for [...] you got $100 off the purchase price!! Plus I sold my old Palm Pilot for $150 -- so I actually ended up making money on the deal (then I regretted not having gotten the 16GB!) There is really no comparison between the Palm and Touch -- Apple makes it SO EASY and quick to install apps, the Palm was always time consuming and lugubrious to install software programs onto, and finding them was a hit or miss proposition. Apple has everything neatly packaged up in their Itunes software program for your computer and it's so easy and QUICK to find and install ANYTHING my little heart desires on the Touch! The touch has wifi so I can hook up to the wifi on my bus ride to and from work everyday and surf the web or check my emails. I love the KINDLE and STANZA reader apps! I have a library of almost 500 books on my Touch and read them constantly! Did I mention the apps? Weight Watchers now has a mobile app similar to their old Palm software program -- I can't wait to try it!! I literally carry my Touch with me EVERYWHERE I go -- I seriously could not live without it. I would get the iPhone version but I'm an older person who does not use my phone much, so the contracts involved in getting one would be cost-prohibitive, but I'm so happy that they offer the Touch! I am now only waiting for the Touch to come out with a camera installed and then I'm upgrading!!

Glorified status symbols.
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
When it comes to the iPod Touch, I just have to ask myself: what's the point? Here's the deal: what exactly are you looking for when you buy this product? If you say "The ability to store my music and take it wherever I go", then leave this page and go find yourself a good portable MP3 player for 1/3 of the price you'd be paying for this. However, if you want the ability to download thousands of useless applications and pop bubble wrap or light a Zippo on a touch screen, then by all means purchase this. Or maybe you just want to say you own one of these, since owning an iPod is a sort of status symbol these days. In any case, I see no reason why anyone would purchase one of these things.

Everything this can do, so can your cell phone. In fact, there is no difference at all between an iPod Touch and an iPhone other than the fact the Touch can't make calls. People say "I like having the applications and using the web browser"...correct me if I'm wrong but cell phones can do this as well. And about the applications: they are (mostly) worthless. Apple loves to advertise the fact they have over 75,000 apps ("An app for everything!") but what they fail to mention is that over half of these are buggy, poorly designed, and completely useless. I can't tell you how stupid some of these apps are: on every Touch I have ever looked at that was owned by another person, their app menu was full of fascinating things like a Zippo lighter you could light using the screen, a fish tank, and bubble wrap that you could pop. There are literally thousands of these utterly worthless time wasters available for download, and they serve no point whatsoever. Anyone fascinated by these things needs to grow up--nothing is more pathetic than seeing a group of adults fascinated with an app that lets you pull the trigger of a gun and hear it go off. That's not to say there aren't some useful apps, but they are few and far between, and offer nothing a good cell phone with a data plan can't do. Furthermore, your cell phone would do it in more places anyway, seeing as the Touch can only get online through Wifi anyway, meaning a lot of your most useful apps are useless unless you have an Internet connection nearby. It's like you'd be able to pull out the restaurant finder app and use it while driving in the city--unless you are near a Wifi hot spot.

This is just an expensive little device that doesn't know what it wants to be--music player or time waster. If you want something simply to store your music, please go out and find yourself a decent device without all the bells and whistles this comes with. This is not a music player, this is a TOY. And a status symbol for some people to show off with.

Great pocket computer
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I got the iPod touch because I needed PDA functionality and because my old player partially bit the dust. I'm very impressed with the capacitive touchscreen and the easy-to-use finger-friendly user interface. More apps than you will ever need are available on the App Store, and once you jailbreak your iPod touch, you will unleash its full potential.

The web browser is excellent, and can display "desktop" versions of websites just fine. It supports JavaScript and (a big one for me) PDF files; however, it does not support flash. The WiFi range is not as good as my laptop, but it works on campus and in internet-enabled cafes.

I'm now using it on a daily basis to manage my time, browse the web whenever WiFi is in range, and pass the time when there is nothing else to do (such as at a bus stop).

The sound quality is inferior to that of my old player, and the joke of an equalizer just plain sucks. But this only holds true if you've used a higher-quality non-iPod music player or something like Rockbox, which has a far more advanced equalizer. On the iPod, you can only select presets, which are prone to producing distorted audio. But as mentioned before, I didn't buy the touch for high-quality audio.
