    Almost everything I want

I’ll admit it, I’ve been avoiding buying an MP3 player for years. I have a 6-CD changer in the car, and I used to not drive more than 1/2 per day, so that was perfectly adequate. But, now with an auto commute of over 3.5 hours per day, I quickly realized that I needed more than 6 albums to keep me from going insane. With a music collection of several thousand albums, I wanted something with significant capacity. Having tried unsuccessfully in the past to use the MP3 player on my 3G phone with Microsoft Mobile OS, I wanted something with an easy and intuitive user interface that would actually work(!!!!). The iPod Classic with 160 GB meets these criteria handsomely.

Already a long-term user of iTunes on my PC, loading my collection on my new iPod was easy and relatively quick. With a separately purchased connection cord, I was able to quickly and successfully (hint, hint, Microsoft) hook my new iPod up to my car’s stereo, where the sound was crisp, clear, and compelling. Even after a LONG drive, remaining battery life was barely dented, and the simple touch wheel user interface meant that I could switch play lists with a minimum amount of fiddling and distraction (at stoplights).

Admittedly, I’m not a high-end user. I don’t care about cameras (video or still), I don’t care about watching movies (although I might start now), and I don’t care about sexy graphics. But I do care about large storage capacity, ease of use, and excellent sound quality, and the new iPod Classic has all of these in spades at a relatively reasonable price. The only thing that would make this better would be even more capacity, but realistically 160 GB is plenty for the foreseeable future.

    Disappointing quality/sound

I love the iPod but this has been a huge disappointment. The hard drive is really noisy when it changes songs, and it did not remember where it was paused in a couple of audiobooks. I assumed this was a defective one and got a new one. Amazon customer service is impeccable!

The second iPod has a less noisy hard drive, but it reset itself for no reason in the middle of a song and then when I tried to re-sync it would not connect to iTunes. Once it finally connected, iTunes says that there is no music on the iPod and that it cannot be synched/recognized. This was after 1 day of use where it was not dropped or mistreated and never left the house. My 5th generation iPod, 3rd generation and shuffle synchronized just fine, so it’s not iTunes or my Mac.

Also, I would say the music quality is not as good as the 5th generation with video. It lacks depth on the new Classic. The size of the device and the hard drive capacity is fantastic and I really like the ability to use the genius function. I even like the slightly odd split screen. I will probably try again with another one, but this is really disappointing. My first bad experience with many years of Apple products.

Until about a year ago, I thought “What’s so hard about changing a CD? Why would you need to carry around a bunch of music? 160 GBs? Who could ever use that much space.” Then I bought a 8 GB Touch, figuring I’d be fine w/ switching out music and video. Before long, I knew I needed something with more capacity and that it would be nice to have almost all my music available when I wanted it. I bought the previous 160 GB version but never got it to work right and returned it. The new version works perfectly. I’ll probably fill it up, but I’ll have a lot of fun doing it!

    What?

You expect to read something profound here? I’m gonna keep mine short

At first i was uneasy about the ipod once i heard that i NEED to use itunes, but it worked out great for me.

I have a video convertor for when downloading videos from youtube and i have one for when ripping DVDs

$230 is really cheap considering this is a mini-tv.

Lets hope it lasts a long time

    A Work of Art!

Apple dazzles, plain and simple. It started when I bought my first Apple computer, an Imac in 2007. I gave up on PC’s because they mostly were stressful to use and dread having to get in to a conversation with most technical advisors. If it wasn’t the language barrier or the attitude or the length of periods on the phone it certainly was the many programs that basically downloaded themselves wether I chose them or not. Anywhoo, since 2007 no serious problems have occurred while enjoying my Imac plus the shower singer in me has found the sorely needed wings it surely wanted through Garage Band and later Logic Studio, two amazing music programs for professionals and wannabees like me! Then in June 2009 Iphone 3GS was released and after having lived without a mobile phone since 1999 I decided it was time to own one, specially when I got stuck in a couple of situations that require phone calls outside of my safe home. The Iphone blew my doors away! Awesome device and the part about dealing with ATT not so nice. I find these type of companies money hungry and domineering and thanks to some judges their monopoly might come to an abrupt end any time soon.

Enter Ipod (Sheer Joy) exquisite design, incredible amount of storage (music, pictures, videos, etc) and really an all around great thing to own. In my case my car has an auxiliary jack and the simplicity to connect the Ipod to the stereo in my car is awesome. The optional cables allow the Ipod to connect to a TV and thrill friends and lovers with home made movies, real movies, etc. To say that Apple has the upper hand on all these products that are too cool for regular school is an understatement. One thing I will say: I am happy I joined the Apple group for even in their customer service they are above average, with very rare exceptions. I gave an Ipod touch to Chrisito (my favorite person in the whole wide world) and watching him use it daily, hour by hour, filled me with joy. Because the whole purpose of this type of products is to increase the excitement level in a person’s life and at this, Ipod Classic succeeds brilliantly! Yes I am excited, happy and proud to walk around with my Iphone, Ipod and who knows what other apple product in the future. It is all about how smoothly their products, so far, work. 5 Stars for the new Ipod Classic. For music lovers specially!
